HWR supports young drivers

HWR meets motorsport

There’s no doubt that there’s a love for all things wheels across HWR and its family of companies. It’s a passion shared by many, and a passion that HWR is proud to cultivate within the realm of motorsport.

HWR director Scott O’Donnell has a keen interest in all things motorsport and drives the Group’s sponsorship of junior drivers. Currently, HWR supports Liam Lawson, Ryan Wood and Bree Morris. Liam is a Red Bull Junior in Formula 2 and the 2022 Reserve F1 Driver for Alpha Tauri; Ryan is a Porsche Michelin Junior driver; Bree races in the Formula Ford series.

Through our petroleum businesses – Allied Petroleum, Petrogas and Pacific Petroleum – we sponsor the advancement of these young drivers’ professional racing careers.

Scott says all three of these talented young drivers have a certain way about them, and he sees much potential in their careers.

“Every now and again you see people with something.”

Liam is “very quick”, and manoeuvres and handles well on the track.

“He’s got a nice way about him. He’s got all the right bits you need and is ambitious.”

Scott was particularly impressed with Ryan’s ability to handle in both wet and dry conditions.

“He’s a good hustler.”

For these athletes, motorsport is their full-time gig. From working out in the gym to training on a simulator, it’s this kind of intense commitment that is needed to race to the top.

HWR is proud to play a part in setting these drivers on their track to success.
