THE FIRST HYDROGEN REFUELLING STATION
It was a monumental day for all at HWR when the first soil was turned over on our brand-new Hydrogen production and Dual-Refuelling site in Clifton, Southland. The site is progressing, with civil construction underway and the installation and commissioning of the hydrogen electrolyser and related equipment to follow. The already converted Dual-Fuel SouthRoads trucks were in charge of preparing the base layer for the site – both trucks are DAF CF 6x4 tractors which were first registered in 2022. They are set up to operate as bottom dumpers and primarily cart aggregate for road maintenance or project build up. Located on Lake St, and right near our Freight Haulage heavy logistics hub, our first refuelling station is the ideal spot for heavy transports stopping and passing through the state highway and port transit area. Adding to Allied Petroleum's national network, a diesel stop will also be available at the site once it's completed in 2024. With this, we are one step closer to bringing hydrogen to the South Island and beyond – our contribution to creating a sustainable future for Aotearoa New Zealand’s heavy transport industry.
