As part of HWR’s commitment to sustainability across its businesses, the company was recently certified with the CarbonReduce accreditation from Toitū Envirocare.

Toitū is a consultancy that works with businesses to help them be more sustainable by giving them the science-based tools, actions and evidence they need to make real progress. It helps businesses, like HWR, realise efficiencies, reduce their carbon footprint, and be more sustainable.

Working with Toitū is one part of HWR’s growing commitment to both measuring and working to reduce the carbon footprint of all of the Group’s activities. Working more sustainably and being kaitiaki of our land is an ever-present goal for HWR. The Group has several initiatives underway, and is working on a larger sustainability piece and approach that will be continuously rolled out across HWR’s businesses in the months to come.

While realisitically, HWR is primarily a transport company that has businesses within the petroleum and concrete sectors, we know we can still make a difference and improve our operations to reduce adverse effects on the environment. The Toitū CarbonReduce accreditation is one tool in the toolbox; the Group is looking forward to unveiling its additional commitments and initiatives in the near future.
