Change Fuel Technology Delivers First Dual Fuel System in Australia
Australian renewable energy company Ark Energy is preparing to open one of the first hydrogen refuelling stations in Australia, co-located in Townsville with sister company Sun Metals Corporation. As part of Sun Metals’ decarbonisation journey and shift to more sustainable transport, Ark Energy purchased a dual fuel system from Change Fuel Technology (CFT).
Our very own Blake Purdue (Technical Engineer) led the project management for this milestone installation, overcoming numerous challenges and firsts for the CFT team, including compliance, shipping and logistics, and adapting the system to a truck model that was new for CFT. In July it was a team effort, Blake and Craig McKenzie (Key Account Manager) travelled to Townsville to install the dual fuel system on Ark Energy’s Mack Titan and train the local maintenance team on installation and ongoing servicing. Aside from this time in Townsville, and several days of commissioning by Trevor Jasper (Control Systems Engineer), much of the work was completed remotely in collaboration with the RGM maintenance team in Townsville.
Achieving compliance in Australia, which has been led by Andrew Mullins (Delivery Manager), has proven vastly different from New Zealand’s regulatory framework. CFT now has compliance for the Mack Titan, with further steps underway to secure approvals for additional truck conversions.
This successful deployment is more than a single achievement; it signals the beginning of multiple system rollouts across the Australian market.
