Breaking ground at Flagstaff

SouthRoads has been awarded the contract for Stage One of Flagstaff Dunedin - the city’s newest residential development. Selected as one of only five invited tenderers, the successful bid reflected SouthRoads’ strong experience and clear approach to planning, transparency, and pricing. Site establishment began in December 2024 following the official award. Stage One includes 36 residential lots and significant earthworks, with approximately 23,500m3 of material being moved to shape road alignments and housing plaorms. Environmental controls were a key focus, including limited subgrade exposure, clean water diversion, and sediment retention systems. The team is using GPS-equipped excavators, dump trucks, and dozers to complete this work with precision. SouthRoads’ drainage crews, in collaboration with KB Contractors, have also made solid progress, installing key wastewater infrastructure laying the foundation for future stages. With aggregate now placed, kerb, channel, and footpath work is advancing despite wet weather. A huge vote of thanks goes to all team members involved in this ambitious project. Their dedication, long hours, and ability to adapt with quick thinking and innovative problem-solving have been instrumental in keeping the project on track for completion in September 2025.
