Andrews Transport

Andrews Transport has depots in Riversdale and Balfour providing a broad range or rural transport services to clients throughout Northern Southland. Cromwell Bulk Distribution

Farmers Transport


Farmers Transport joined the HWR Group as a joint venture in 2015, they are a rural transport company based in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. They are specialists in handling movements of stock around the North and South Islands and can cater to any complex, high compliance, welfare specific movement of animals you may require. Farmers Transport was the first rural transport company to be accredited as a NAIT Information Provider, they have a vital role to play in protecting New Zealand’s reputation as a high quality primary producer, by ensuring complete traceability in the movement of animals from one location to another.

Freight Haulage


Freight Haulage is in the business of logistics and has been handling containerised freight in Southland for more than 30 years. It is the biggest transporter of containerised goods in the region. The company operates a fleet of 25 trucks including swing lift's flat deck quad units for containerised goods, curtain side b-trains for general freight, tip truck and trailers for bulk products and auger truck & trailers for stock foods deliveries. Freight Haulage has over 23,000m2 of covered storage, enabling this facility to specialise in bulk stock foods including a stock foods blending system and certified weighbridge.

Herberts Transport


A rural transport company based in Edendale, operating 20 trucks specialising in carting stock, bulk and general product and sowing. They also cart and distribute products from the dairy industry; whey and milk powder and stock food and carries supplies of gravel, cement and coal for sale to the public and operates a vacuum truck – for emptying effluent ponds.

Purdue Bros


Purdue Bros Ltd, one of Southland’s most respected transport companies, began business in 1947. Today, the company has a fleet of 11 trucks, 9 of which have truck-mounted Palfinger Cranes. Purdue Bros has specialised equipment to enhance the cranes, making them capable of transporting 27 meter long-run iron with a trombone trailer, or placing it on a roof with an 11 tonne lift. Crane accessories, including an auger, pallet forks, workman’s basket and concrete bucket also enhance the productivity and range of options available. Class 1 and Class 2 pilots are available for any over-dimension loads.

Southern Transport


Southern Transport is a large, experienced bulk cartage operator. The company’s core activities are the supply, cartage and laying of aggregates and roading materials. Specialised equipment includes panel trailers for transporting concrete panels and beams. Southern Transport - Logging, based in Winton & Dunedin has been involved in the industry since 1946. The logging fleet which now comprises 21 trucks, has more than tripled in size in the last 10 years. The company cart logs locally to destinations including Winton and Mataura, along with export logs to Port Chalmers, Dunedin and South Port, Bluff.

Transport Services

Transport Services South land is a rural transport company based in the Western Southland township of Nightcaps and operate a fleet of 35 trucks. The company provides its community with fertiliser and bulk cartage, ground spreading and livestock cartage. It also provides telehandlers and loaders for hire and offers hay, baleage and straw placements. A daily freight service between Invercargill and Ohai complements the farm-based side of the business.

Upper Clutha Transport

Upper Clutha Transport joined the HWR Group in March 2015. This long-established transport business has depots in Wanaka and Luggate and operates a fleet of 26 trucks along with diggers, loaders and a daily freight service into Wanaka. Upper Clutha Transport also operate a handyman yard in Wanaka supplying aggregate and topsoil to the local community

Dynes Transport Tapanui Limited

McLaren Ranfurly Transport

McLaren Ranfurly Transport based in Ranfurly joined the HWR Group as a joint venture in 2019.  The company was formed by the purchase of both McLaren Transport that was formed in 1952 and Ranfurly Transport formed in 2012. Operating a fleet of 26 trucks specialising in livestock transport, bulk cartage, spreading, freight, concrete, excavation and are also suppliers of aggregates and sand. Their wheelhouse is transporting stock and bulk all over the South Island and occasionally into the North.
